September is National Preparedness Month!

This month we will try to post some informative articles for residents to provide a guide for NPM2010.
Preparing for Hurricane Earl

Set to hit land on Long Island this Labor Day weekend, Hurricane Earl has reached Category 4 which means winds at approximately 131 - 155 mph and a storm surge of 13 - 18 feet (according to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale).

Elderly and Special Needs Emergency Planning
Submitted by John Bekisz 617 on Thu, 06/10/2010 - 07:20It is important for citizens of Stewart Manor that are elderly or have disabilities or special needs should plan appropriately in advance for an emergency.
If you are elderly, disabled, live at home with oxygen, or have other special needs that may prevent you from hastily leaving your home, please contact the fire department. We will be sure to provide extra care and guidance in the event of a medical emergency, fire, or other disaster.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) provides a helpful guide to emergency planning for the elderly or disabled.
